How our MES integrates seamlessly with your ERP system

How do ERP and MES work together?

1.ERP sends orders and master data to MES

Your ERP system functions as the business planning layer. Through BMS's ERP link software, all necessary planning and product information is directly transferred to your BMS MES system, automatically and reliably. This ERP link supports standardized file exchange methods such as CSV, XML, or TXT files with definabale directories.

Data that can be automatically imported into the BMS MES system:

  • product definitions,
  • unplanned orders,
  • scheduled orders in sequence,
  • linked orders,
  • revised quantities or delivery dates for existing orders,
  • material availability,
  • ...

These are automatically transferred to the BMS MES system, which then:

  • distributes orders to the correct machines or lines,
  • gives operators clear instructions on what to produce next,
  • ensures everyone on the shop floor works with the correct, up-to-date information.

No more printing paper lists or manually retyping orders. This is the foundation of paperless manufacturing, reducing errors and ensuring consistent execution across all shifts.

2.MES collects real-time production data from the shop floor

Using machine connectivity and IIoT, MES:

  • connects directly to the machines,
  • records run time, cycle times, and machine speeds,
  • records machine stops and alarms,
  • captures good production vs scrap,
  • counts fabric meters, molded parts, or other unit counts,
  • tracks shift performance, OEE and quality (SPC/SQC).

Operators can confirm start/stop of orders, enter reasons for downtime, and record additional quality information when needed.

3.MES sends feedback back to ERP

When an order progresses or finishes, the BMS MES software automatically updates the ERP system with accurate real-time feedback so enterprise-level planning and costing remain accurate. The following data can be automatically exported from your BMS MES to your ERP system:

  • produced quantity (good and scrap),
  • order status (started, in progress, completed),
  • acutal production time and machine time,
  • optionally: scrap reasons, shift data, material consumption and batch traceability.

ERP can then:

  • update stock levels,
  • calculate real order costs and margins,
  • provide accurate delivery information to customers.

This creates a closed loop between planning and execution, ensuring ERP and MES continuously enrich each other rather than duplicate work.
