Euromap 77: a new communication protocol for injection machines to be announced at K 2016.

In October 2015, the VDMA (Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau) created a working group consisting of several injection machine manufacturers and MES suppliers with the aim to develop a new data communication protocol for injection machines. The actual Euromap 63 designed in 2000 has become completely obsolete and with Industry 4.0 on everybody’s plate, the need for a modern standard became more than urgent. The new protocol will be announced by the VDMA at the Kunststoffmesse in Düsseldorf to be held in October this year.

BMS wants to thank the VDMA for letting it participate and contribute to the development of the Euromap 77. As an MES supplier, BMS has over 30 years of experience in the plastics industry and therefor it was well positioned to give the necessary input from the MES side point of view. One of the revolutionary functionalities BMS put on the table, is the possibility to launch MES web pages from the machine controller screen, allowing operators to browse MES menus and information pages right at the machine. In this way, the LED screen of the IMM controller unit turns into the MES HMI.
